"Rock the Yard at the Leixlip Festival"
Kormac's Big Band
He has matured into an artist who brings a totally unique approach to his art, twisting samples and meticulous recordings of acoustic instruments into something entirely unique.
His latest project, Equivalent Exchange, saw him write a full suite of material for an orchestra and a host of collaborators including Loah, Eimear Noone, Jack O’ Rourke and Stephen James Smith while working with acclaimed artist, Maser, on artwork and show visuals. They performed the material to a sold out Vicar Street in March 2018.
While making his last album, Doortspes, he literally showed up at the doors of legendary author, Irvine Welsh, Mercury Music Prize Winner, Speech Debelle, Texan legend, Micah P. Hinson and a host of others to collaborate and produce a record that sounds like nothing else.
He is well known for his daring live shows. Kormac's live AV brings his studio set up, a drummer and a massive LED wall showing bespoke visuals for alternative takes on his own material.
The world has taken notice. His last album got him nominated for the Meteor choice music prize. He’s played festivals including Glastonbury, Bestival, Electric Picnic, Sonar and toured the UK, Europe, Eastern Europe, Australia and Canada alongside luminaries Portishead, Nas, Flaming Lips, Sonic Youth, Snarky Puppy and a host of others.
Recent TV appearances include a wonderful gig in St. James’ Church in Kerry for the iconic Other Voices show, a performance on Ireland’s prime time, Late Late Show and live broadcasts on WDR in Germany.
His records are sold out. He has tens of millions of Spotify plays. His music is used on TV and adds all the time and his material is regularly played on radio worldwide. He is currently finishing his third studio album.
Despite gaining a reputation as “The Maniac” Mark has never shied away from the Irish music industry and has released numerous tracks under various names, Mark was creator then editor of RTE’s new Music Alternative station 2xm, dance station Pulse and later the Director of music and sound at RTÉ 2fm.
In 2015, as a fifteenth anniversary surprise, the single topped the charts again. Shortly after, McCabe was invited to perform at Electric Picnic to thousands of excited festival goers. Since then, McCabe has been in high demand across the country and internationally and has played to over 20,000 fans collectively at festivals, clubs and college events with international dates in Sydney, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Andora and Mallorca.
This year looks to be an even bigger one for Mark as he returns to his production roots. With a number of edits and remixes under his belt and plenty of his own new material to come, McCabe has also been inundated with remix offers including James Arthur's "Safe Inside" & Gabrielle Aplin's "Miss You" both set for imminent release. His stellar remix of the Gavin James track “Nervous” is still burning bright around the world, having reached over 100 million streams to date and achieving some great chart positions including Top 5 in Holland, Norway & Belgium and currently Top 10 in France.
